River Rats Invade Downtown

Don't go climbing on a chair just yet, as the rats we are speaking of are River Rats, LLC., downtown's newest transportation company.

The new bicycle-powered taxi service also known as pedicabs, serve the riverfront of Newport, Bellevue and Covington from their base at Newport On The Levee, and were just recently granted the authorization to cross the river into Cincinnati. Newport's coverage allows travel as far south as 10th. Street and Covington includes coverage of MainStrasse Village.

Currently the service runs weekends only starting on Friday nights. The cabbies are independent contractors who set their own rates, but most are currently running on tips only.

The company owners are looking forward to having predetermined tour routes this spring through the historic riverfront communities, and currently accept leasing opportunities for corporate events and weddings.
